The Vegetable Garden in April

 

Overview ;

What was said last month still applies in April, that is;

 

The soil will be starting to warm up, weeds will be emerging, but again the advice is ;

 

Do not be tempted to sow / plant out too early.

 

 

 
 
 

Week No. 14 - 2nd to 8th

 

  • Cover beds with cloches to warm up the soil.

 

 

 

 

 

 
 
 

Week No. 15 - 9th to 15th

 

 

  • If weather and ground conditions allow plant previously chitted early potatoes.

 

 

 
 
 

Week No. 16 - 16th to 22nd

 

  • Sow Chive seeds if soil conditions allow.

 

  • Prepare Endive beds if not done previously.

 

 

 

 
 
 

Week No. 17 - 23rd to 29th

 

 

  • If weather and ground conditions allow plant previously chitted maincrop potatoes.

 

 

  • Check to see if forced Rhubarb is ready for harvesting.
