Propagating tasks in March

 

Overview ;

This month is a busy month as many varieties of plant require propagation by means seed sowing, cuttings and division.

 

A plan is very useful to ensure you can use your propagatinging facilities in an efficient manner.

 

 
 
 

Week No. 9 - 26th Feb to 4th Mar

 

 

 

 

 
 
 

Week No. 10 - 5th to 11th

 

Dicentra, Echevera, Eryngium, Fuchsia, Gerbera, Geum, Gloxinia, Heliotrope, Lewisia, Pansy, Penstemon, Petunia,

Pinaceae, Portulaca, Potentilla, Pulsatilla, Radish, Rose, Salpiglossis, Silene, and Tomato seeds

 

  • Stratify Sidalcea seeds in refrigerator.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
 
 

Week No. 11 - 12th to 18th

 

Lettuce, Limnanthes, Limonium, Passiflora, Schizanthus, and Thunbergia seeds.

 

 

  • Pot up Cylamen seedlings sown previous year.

 

 

 

 
 
 

Week No. 12 - 19th to 25th

 

Brussels Sprouts, Calabrese(early), Calceolaria, Campanula, Clianthus, Convolvulus, Echinacea, Genista, Melon, Nemesia,

Physostegia, Sweet Peppers, and Verbena (annuals).

 

 

 

seedlings if large enough to handle.

 

 

 

 

  • Pot up rooted Hebe cuttings taken the previous year.

 

 

 

 

 

  • Commence placing Chrysanthemum cuttings in coldframe to harden off.

 

 
 
 

Week No. 13 - 26th to 1st Apr

 

Dierama, Eremurus, Eschscholtzia, Euphorbia, Incarvillea, Mesembryanthemum, Nicotiana, Nolana, Papaver / Poppy,

Phlox drummondii, Platycodon, Rudbeckia, Saintpaulia, Thyme, Tropaeolum. Verbascum, Viola, and Wisteria, seeds.

 

Dahlia (bedding), Geum, Globe Artichoke, Helichrysum, Heliotrope, Ipomea, Lettuce, Limonium, Penstemon, Petunia,

Silene, and Thunbergia seedlings.

 

 

 

  • Pot up Lily scales if requred.

 

 

  • Layer Clematis and sever layers taken previous year.
