Overview ;

A time for setting some established plants into growth, and taking cuttings from others.

 

Continue with your sowing and cutting programme as required, and pot up the seedlings and cuttings as they become available.

 

Week No. 5 - 29th Jan to 4th Feb

 

• Sow Althaea,and Azalea seed.

 

• Take Chrysanthemum, Grape, and Pelargonium cuttings.

 

• Start Dahlias into growth if not done previously.

 

• Start Fuchsias into growth by spraying the plants with tepid water.

 

Week No. 6 - 5th to 11th

 

• Sow Achimenes, Asarina, Begonia, Catananche, Celosia, Fennel, and Verbena seeds.

 

• Stratify Rose seed in refrigerator.

 

• Prick out Althaea, Cranesbill / Geranium, and Lupin seedling if large enough to handle.

 

• Take Heliotrope cuttings.

 

Week No. 7 - 12th to 18th

 

• Sow Anomatheca, Arthropodium, Brugmansia, Carnation, Datura, Digitalis, Gazania, Heuchera, Osteospermum, and Surfinia, seeds.

 

• Prick out autumn sown Alliums, Alstroemeria, Onion, and Shallots if large enough to handle.

 

• Pot up Auricula offsets into pots of gritty compost.

 

• Take Osteospermum cuttings.

 

Week No. 8 - 19th to 25th

 

• Stratify Aconitum,and Lewisia seeds.

 

• Sow Anacyclus, Auricula, Azalea, Cape Gooseberry, Delphinium, Echinops, Eucalyptus, Laurentia, Leontopodium, Lychnis, Primula, and Strelitzia, and Trachycarpus / Chusan Palm, seeds.

 

• Prick out Buddlea, and Celosia seedlings if large enough to handle.

 

• Take Anchusa, Echinacea, Eryngium, Papaver / Poppy, root cuttings.

 

• Commence potting up rooted Chrysanthemum cuttings, and taking more cuttings if required.
