Propagating tasks in August

 

Overview ;

This is a good time to begin harvesting ripe seeds, and there is still time to propagate many shrubs and perennials.

 

 
 
 

Week No. 31 - 29th Jul to 4th Aug

 

 

 

 
 
 

Week No. 32 - 5th to 11th

 

 

  • Collect Mahonia berries, extract seeds and sow.

 

 

 

Jasmine nudiflorum, Lavender, Parthenocissus, Viola, and Wisteria, cuttings.

 

 

  • Divide and repot Nerines if required.

 

  • Plant up Sprekelia bulbs singly in 75mm (3") pots,

 

 

 
 
 

Week No. 33 - 12th to 18th

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
 
 

Week No. 34 - 19th to 25th

 

  • Place Aubretia seedlings in coldframe to harden off.

 

 

 

  • Collect and store Nemophila seeds if required.

 

  • Sever Strawberry runners from parent plants (if rooted) and place in cold frame until planting out time.
