Overview ;

A busy time of the year as clearing up after the current season, and preparing for winter and next year's crops takes place.

 

At any time this month;

• Collect seed and store for next year.

 

• Wash / clean pots, trays and containers in preparation for the next season's propagation.

 

• Extract,clean and store split cane supports.

 

• Generally clear away spent plant materials and place it in the compost heap providing it is not carrying disease.

 

• Commence winter digging on completion of the above.

 

 

Week No. 40 - 30th Sept to 5th Oct

 

• Weed and feed lawn if not done previously.

 

• Clean greenhouse and coldframes before the onset of bad weather.

 

• Remove dead aquatic growths from pond and check that the pump is in good working oreder.

 

• Stretch netting over pond to catch fallen leaves.

 

 

Week No. 41 - 6th to 12th

 

• Control moss infestation and surface drainage on lawns.

 

Week No. 42 - 13th to 19th

 

• Dismantle support frame if all the Runner beans have been harvested and place in store for next year.

 

• Insulate Greenhouse and coldframe in preparation for winter.

 

 

Week No. 43 - 20th to 26th

 

• Empty full compost heap/s, use the contents in the course of winter digging and prepare to receive new compostable material.

 

Week No. 44 - 27th to 2nd Nov

 

• Prepare pond for the onset of winter.

 

• Prepare containers for winter.
