Miscellaneous tasks in April

 

Overview ;

As mentioned in previous months miscellaneous tasks should be carried out as and when conditions allow.

 

Listed below, are few examples of tasks can that can be done at anytime this month.

 

 
 
 

At any time this month;

  • Move maturing seedlings from the greenhouse into a coldframe to harden off as necessary.

 

  • If not done the previous autumn plant out hedging when conditions allow.

 

  • Cut back climbing plants that are growing into gutters and roof tiles.

 

  • If not too wet apply a weedkiller to paths and drives, particularly those built with brick paviors.

 

  • Clear up the garden of any wind blown debris and weed around structural plants.

 

  • Check that supporting frames for climbing or tall plants is secure, repair/replace any that are damaged.

 

  • Similarly tie in any climbing or tall plants that have freed themselves from their support.

 

 
 
 

Week No. 14 - 2nd to 8th

 

 

  • If pond is leaking, empty it and make necessary repairs.

 

  • Carry out any tasks from list above if required.

 

 
 
 

Week No. 15 - 9th to 15th

 

 

 

  • Carry out any tasks from list above if required.

 

 
 
 

Week No. 16 - 16th to 22nd

 

  • Thin out nymphea (Water lily) if necessary.

 

 

  • Tidy up containers and planters if conditions allow.

 

  • Carry out any tasks from list above if required.

 

 
 
 

Week No. 17 - 23rd to 29th

 

 

  • Stock ponds with fish if desired.

 

  • Carry out any tasks from list above if required.
