Growing Indoors or under glass in September

Overview:

Temperatures, humidity and ventilation are probably the main items to be taken care of this month.

Extreme variations can cause various fungal problems on plant life.

Week 36 - 2nd Sep. to 8th Sep.

Check over potted Alpine plants and tidy up as necessary.

Check over Established plants and top dress or re-pot as necessary.

If not already done, nip out the growing tip of Tomato plants to encourage the crop to ripen before the end of the growing season.

Week 37 - 9th Sep. to 15th Sep.

Sow Lettuce seeds.

Re-pot or pot on Sprekelia every two or three years.

Week 38 - 16th Sep. to 22nd Sep.

Keep a check on humidity, when it is too high, it can cause plants such as late Chrysanthemums to damp off.

Pot up established Aethiopica plants.

Fetch Datura and Fuchsia into the greenhouse for the winter months.

Pot Narcissus / Daffodil bulbs up as soon as they are available.

Stop feeding Tuberous Begonias once flowering and growth begins to fall off.

If Bougainvillea plants have finished flowering ease off on the watering.

Week 39 - 23rd Sep. to 29th Sep.

Ensure Indoor Grape vines get maximum light.

Daily, place Poinsettia in a light free place from early evening until the following morning.
