Growing indoors or under glass in February

 

Overview ;

This month is about ensuring that temperatures are kept under control, and that the growing areas are kept well ventilated on sunny days.

 

 
 
 

Week No. 5 - 29th Jan to 4th Feb

 

  • If not done previously; Clean off any green mould and grime this will allow maximum light into the greenhouse.

 

  • Keep an eye out for greenhouse pests such as aphids.

 

 

  • Pot up Lily bulbs into containers.

 

 

 
 
 

Week No. 6 - 5th to 11th

 

  • Place the dormant Gloxinia tubers in pots/trays of moist compost and start them into growth.

 

 

  • Tie in Grape vine rods.

 

  • Close the greenhouse down when new growth develops on the grape vine/s

 

 

 
 
 

Week No. 7 - 12th to 18th

 

  • Encourage Auricula plants into growth by watering the plants.

 

  • Prune / tidy up Fuchsia plants, and pot up if necessary.

 

 

  • Fetch potted Narcissus into the home or greenhouse.

 

 

 
 
 

Week No. 8 - 19th to 25th

 

  • In un-heated greenhouses, ventilate freely on warm days to encourage young growth on grape vine/s.

 

 

 

  • Fetch bowls/containers of Tulips indoors to induce early flowering.

 

 

  • Prune young growth on Grape vines.
