Growing indoors or under glass in April

Overview ;

This is a month for getting overwintered plants started off for another growing year.

This likely to entail re-potting, and increasing watering and feeding.

Week No. 14 - 2nd to 8th

  • When growth on Aethiopica appears, water moderately.

  • Apply a weak liquid feed to Sprekelia every two weeks from flowering time until the leaves die back.

  • Re-pot Alpine plants as necessary.

  • Re-pot and tidy up Ferns, and divide if necessary.

Week No. 15 - 9th to 15th

  • Gradually withhold water from Cyclamen plants that have finished flowering.

Week No. 16 - 16th to 22nd

  • Prune / Trim Aucuba if necessary.

  • When grapes come into flower, keep the greenhouse fairly dry to encourage good pollination.

Week No. 17 - 23rd to 29th

  • Continue watering and feeding Hyacinth bulbs that were forced into early bloom, until the foliage shows signs of turning yellow.

  • If the leaves have already yellowed, lift the bulbs and store them in a cool airy space until autumn.
