Fruit Garden in June

Week 23 - 3rd to 9th

Net cane and bush fruits to keep birds off.

Weed Strawberry plants and protect them from pests.

Control weeds around Plum trees by shallow hoeing.

Give containerised fruit trees a weekly high potash liquid feed.

Look out for for signs of vine weevil and woolly aphid activity.

 
 

Week 24 - 10th to 16th

Thin Grape bunches.

Peaches; Check for signs of drying out and water as necessary.

Summer prune Red & White currants.

 
 

Week 25 - 17th to 23rd

Thin out fruit on peach trees to increase fruit size and quality.

Check Black & Red currants for aphids.

Ensure strawberry bird nets are secure.

 
 

Week 26 - 24th to 30th

Spray Blackberries & Raspberries

Feed Peach trees. 

Thin Pears if necessary.

Fit scarers in Plum trees to reduce fruit damage by birds.

Check the sticky card in pheromone traps and change if necessary.

Apply a systemic fungicide to deter mildew on Apple tree.
