Garden Pea

  Q
How do I prevent caterpillars attacking my peas?

  A

Keep your peas covered during June to mid-August with an agrofleece, this will prevent the pea moths reaching the plants to lay

their eggs.

  Q
The leaves on my peas have all been nibbled round the edges and I wonder if you could tell me what has done this?

  A
The leaf notching is the work of the pea and bean weevil and does no lasting damage to the plants.

  Q
Are mangetout peas grown in the same way as ordinary peas?

  A

Mangetout or sugar snap peas are grown in the same way as ordinary peas.

Sowings can be made in fertile soil from April until June.

Earlier sowings should be given protection by means of a cloche or agricultural fleece.
