Hemerocallis

  Q
l have a large clump of day lilies (Hemerocallis) when is the best time to divide them?

  A

Hemerocallis may be lifted and divided in the autumn or spring, lift the clump with a garden fork or spade then divide it into several portions.

Select only young, vigorous pieces from the outside of the clump for replanting.

Replant these in well prepared soil as soon as possible after they've been lifted.

Ensure the soil is firmed around the divisions, and give them a good watering to settle them in.
