The Gardener's Almanac
a place to find out what to do in the garden this week
Winter-flowering heathers should be lightly trimmed and tidied up, with shears, in March or April or after flowering to produce
plenty of new growth for flowering the following winter.
Callunas benefit from an annual trim in early spring
Trim young callunas with sharp secateurs, and cut off all the old flower heads.
This should induce bushy new shoots to form which should flower in late summer.
