If seed is sown too soon, the plant/s is inclined to bolt so sow later, say June / July,
Sow the seed in small pots or modules then when the plants are large enough, plant them in their permanent positions.
Checks to growth, such as a lack of water or fluctuating temperature can also cause bolting.
