Plants are grown from seed, which can be sown outdoors at intervals from late April to August.

The vegetable matures within eight to twelve weeks.

It does best in good, fertile soil.

Sow the seed thinly in drills spaced 300mm (12”). apart and, later, thin the seedlings out to leave them 150mm (6”) apart.
