Seed Packets & Containers

stored in a Biscuit Tin

Different kinds of seeds, including saved seeds in individually named packets should be stored in a suitable sized tightly sealed container, or a sealed zip-lock bag.

Idealy the container should be kept at a temperature of 0°-4°C (32°-40°F) making the refrigerator (not the freezing compartment!) the ideal place.

If this is not practical store them in the coolest dry spot you can find where the temperature does not fluctuate too much, and the humidity is low.

Temperature & humidity fluctuations can shorten the life of the stored seeds drastically.

Place a small amount of silica-gel desiccant in the container and this will absorb moisture from the air and help keep the seeds dry.
